llms.txt Generator

Add your site name, a one-line summary and the key pages you want AI models to find, and copy a clean, spec-valid llms.txt. Place it at the root of your domain as /llms.txt. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.

Note

llms.txt is a proposed standard (llmstxt.org) — a single markdown file at your domain root (/llms.txt) that gives AI models a clean, curated map of your most useful pages. Fill in the details below and copy the result.

Tip

Name a section Optional and models may skip it when they need a shorter context — put nice-to-have links there. Keep the file short and high-signal; link to the pages you most want cited.

What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a proposed standard: a single markdown file at your domain root (/llms.txt) that gives AI models a clean, curated map of your most important pages. Where robots.txt says what crawlers may access, llms.txt highlights the content you most want models to read, understand and cite.

How to use your llms.txt

Generate the file, then save it as llms.txt at the root of your site. Keep it short and high-signal — link the pages you most want models to surface, write a clear one-line summary, and put nice-to-have links under an “Optional” section that models can skip for a shorter context.

Frequently asked questions

What is llms.txt used for?
It gives large language models and AI answer engines a curated index of your key pages in plain markdown, so they can find and cite your content accurately instead of guessing from a full crawl.
Where do I put the llms.txt file?
At the root of your domain, reachable at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt — the same convention as robots.txt.
Is llms.txt an official standard?
It’s a proposed community standard (llmstxt.org) that a growing number of sites have adopted. It isn’t yet officially required or supported by every AI provider, but it’s low-cost to publish.
Is llms.txt the same as robots.txt?
No. robots.txt controls which URLs crawlers may access; llms.txt curates and describes the content you want AI models to read and cite. They complement each other.

llms.txt is how you hand-curate what AI answer engines read. Crawl Cove audits AI search visibility (GEO) across your whole site — checking answerability and llms.txt coverage so generative engines can find, understand and cite you. See the features or compare the plans.
