Crawl Cove is a desktop SEO crawler for Windows and macOS that tells you what to fix, not just what is broken. It is made in the United Kingdom by Crawl Cove Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
Why we built it
Most crawlers are very good at telling you that something is wrong and no help at all with what to do about it. You finish an audit holding a spreadsheet with thousands of rows, and the real work has not started yet: deciding what actually matters on this site, for this client, and writing it up so somebody can act on it.
So Crawl Cove is opinionated on purpose. Every finding comes with a plain-English explanation of what is wrong, why it costs you, and how to fix it, with the evidence that produced it one click away. It pulls in Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and Core Web Vitals data so the audit is about the pages people actually reach, and it keeps versioned history so you can prove a fix worked.
Local-first, on purpose
Crawl Cove is a desktop application, not a cloud service. Your crawl data, client names and audit history live in a local database on your own machine, and API keys are encrypted at rest using your operating system’s keychain. Nothing from a crawl is uploaded to us: the app talks to our servers only to check your licence and look for updates.
That is a deliberate trade. It means we cannot see your clients’ data even if we wanted to, and it means you are not waiting in a queue behind somebody else’s crawl. Privacy and where your data lives sets out exactly what does and does not leave your machine.
It also means the crawl comes from our user’s own connection rather than from a Crawl Cove server, which is worth knowing if you have found our crawler in your logs. What the Crawl Cove bot is, and how to control it explains the user agent it sends and how to limit or block it.
How it has grown
Crawl Cove shipped its first public release before the company existed, which is the ordinary way round for a product someone builds first and incorporates once it is real.

How we keep ourselves honest
- We make Crawl Cove, so every comparison page on this site says so. We are not a neutral reviewer and we will not pretend to be one.
- Competitor prices and limits are checked against each vendor’s own pricing page and carry the date they were checked. Where a competitor is the cheaper or better buy for what you need, we say so on the page. See our Screaming Frog comparison for how that reads in practice.
