If you received Crawl Cove as a licensed product, the Settings page is where you activate it and manage which machines use your seats. Licensing state never gets in the way of the work — crawling, checks, and reports run the same way regardless, except where a build deliberately gates a feature behind activation.
Activation
On an unlicensed install, enter your licence key in Settings to verify and activate it. Once activated, the licence panel shows:
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Plan | The plan your key is on. |
| Seats | How many activations your licence allows. |
| Expiry | When the licence expires. |
| Key tail | A masked tail of the key — enough to confirm which key is active, never the whole secret. |
Device management
Each activation binds a seat to the machine it ran on. From the licence panel you can:
- View bound devices — every machine currently holding one of your seats.
- Remove a device — frees that seat so another machine can activate, which is exactly what you do when you're at capacity and need to move to a new computer.
Deactivate
The Deactivate action signs this machine out and frees its seat for another device. Use it before wiping or retiring a computer so you don't strand a seat on hardware you no longer use.
Live seat changes
Seat changes don't need a restart. If a seat is freed or revoked elsewhere — from another machine or from your account on this website — the app picks it up via a background heartbeat and updates the licence state on its own.
Note
Your account on this website also lets you manage your licence remotely: view the devices bound to it and block a device to free its seat. Whether you make the change in the app or on the web, the heartbeat keeps both in sync without a restart.
